But it is also possible that this ethnographic oversight was due as well to factors of interest and the lack of sufficient anthropological students to cover all areas in the region. For whatever reason or reasons, however, the oversight has been significant. If they serve no other purpose, Park's data will at last document the richness of the lake and riverine subsistence regimes of the Pyramid Lake and Walker River Northern Paiute. Although suggested in the archaelogy (Heizer and Napton 1970), their ethnographic significance has not been fully realized until recent years (Speth 1969; Fowler and Bath 1981; Follett 1982).
He had lived and traveled in the Lovelock area and many of his comments relate to practices in that vicinity. JO-PL. Jackson Overton was identified with the Pyramid Lake band, although he did not state where he was born. He was in his 70s when interviewed in 1933.
