Mutual trust and inter-organizational relationships manifest themselves in a variety of different forms. On the interpersonal level, Japanese nomunication and Chinese guanxi relationships are the best known. Nomunication (Japanese: nomu (to drink) plus English ‘communication’) are informal meetings that take place at the end of the work day with the aim of building up a mutual group identity – and thereby amplifying a spirit of uchi (in-group identity).
