Before that we invite readers to roadtest it by plotting their perceptions, and those of their colleagues or partners, with the help of a condensed, pen-and-paper version of our partnering diagnostic software (Appendix B).

The virtual waters navigated by all corporate relationships are framed by their ambitions for the partnership, on the one hand, and the way they deal with difference, on the other. Ambition, a key component of human energy, is a result of the partners' views of opportunity and risk. The more the perceptions of risk rise, the lower the trust expressed.
