The cylinder of this gun swings out to the right to reload, and the double action mechanism has a partially-shrouded rebounding hammer. These were advertised as the 'Bogatyr' or 'Nagant' in catalogues published in Russia prior to 1917. They were also marketed as the 'Puppy' or "French Officer's Model". , some guns had a fixed striker whilst others had hinged patterns. This gun uses a swing back loading gate to lock the cylinder.
